DELTA X Patta - BrickWheels Toy Car
DELTA -“The idea is to see if that sexiness can still hold if you reduce it to just a heavy metal brick with wheels, but with suspension. A bouncy brick to be played and raced with. It’s a PlayThing.” Often confining himself to the parameters of primary colours, Delta - or now more widely known by his real-name Boris Tellegen, has utilised these restrictions in his favour once again. Dubbed the Brickwheels, it is the antithesis of over-the-top outlandish toy cars that we know from our youth. Taking on simplicity in its truest sense with a metal monochrome die-cast body making for satisfying aesthetics. Suspension to the wheel axles does the same for the mechanics with deceptive bounce qualities.
Delta (Dutch, b.1968), born Boris Tellegen, began as a Graffiti artist in the 1980s. After studying industrial design engineering at the Delft University of Technology in the early 1990s, Delta began creating mixed-media sculptures, collages, and installations. The influence of architecture and design is apparent in his work in all media, with his focus on depth and creating a sense of three-dimensionality on a flat surface. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Musee Des Beaux Arts in Tourcoing, France; Houston Gallery in Seattle, WA; PERMSPACE GALLERY in Tokyo, Japan;, Slam Jam in Ferrara, Italy; A.L.I.C.E. Gallery in Brus- sels, Belgium; and Random Distress in Stockholm, Sweden. Delta currently lives and works in Amsterdam.
