KUTANI BE@RBRICK 400% Awata-YuFine Japanese Kutani Yaki Art Porcelain
What is Kutani?
Kutani ware (Kutani-yaki) is a style of Japanese porcelain traditionally supposed to be from Kutani, now a part of Kaga, Ishikawa, in the former Kaga Province, in Japan.
How it is made
The base is made by pouring slurry into a plaster mold and is formed using water absorbability of plaster. All process is performed by craftsman without using any machines and the thickness of each figure is created relying on the experience of the craftsman.
Cracks on surface is appeared by using shrinking percentage difference of glaze and ceramic. This can be seen on earthenware used for many years or in antiques.
Movable articulation is installed in both arms and legs which can maintain the angles when posing. The arms will not fall down and are stable. Special articulation parts are place on arms and legs which enables articulation. Clear and smooth surface enables light to reflect.
The fascinating point is the unique "shape" which cannot be made by industrial products and can only be made by hand. Each piece has its own unique distortion and texture which will attract you.
Please enjoy the beautiful crack expression created by the glaze. This BE@RBRICK is a master piece which has its unique "elegance" created by Japanese craftsmanship.
